THE HEAD AND THE HEART, Sounds Like Hallelujah (from The Head and the Heart, 2010)
So simple, so sweet. The Head and the Heart is a six-piece band from Seattle that just released their debut S/T LP yesterday. The single, Sounds Like Hallelujah, is a beautiful and comforting folk tune led by Josiah Johnson and Jon Russell’s melodic vocals, and punctuated by crisp piano notes. They undeniably bring to mind folk masters The Avett Brothers, and the strong lyrics and compositions by Rufus Wainwright (especially in the line “for the first time/sounds like hallelujah/and I’ll miss you someday…”).
I have been listening to this song over and over again, and keep discovering new elements to linger on. Enjoy enjoy enjoy.
Listen to more songs on their Soundcloud. Especially Down in the Valley.
Purchase their debut album here: iTunes . Amazon . CD Baby
(BTW, these peeps are unsigned, hello?? Any record labels out there? Grab this now!)
